Hasselblad Masters 2012
Jan 16th
Some amazing (as you would expect images in the winners of the Hasselblad Masters 2012 competition.
“The Hasselblad Masters represent photography at its finest; at its most inspired, most communicative, most beautiful. They are young, old, western, eastern, classical, experimental, traditional, modern, and futuristic. They have perhaps but one thing in common: they are masters at conveying an instant, an emotion, with images. Masters of the art and craft that is photography.” (more…)
Rosemary 365
Jan 6th
We decided when Rosemary was born in 2010 to take at least 1 photograph a day for her first year as a record of how she changed and also what we did during that first year. Well that first year ended on 22nd April 2011 and it has taken me a long time to sort out the photos. Don’t know how I got so far behind, but I did and still trying to catch up with photos taken since then.
But here are those 366 photographs (the first one being Day 0) displayed as a slideshow. You can also find them More >

TIME Picks the Top 10 Photos of 2011
Dec 12th
TIME magazine has selected it’s top 10 photos of 2011, which are naturally mainly of a journalist nature.
To quote their website:
We’re in the business of making icons. From immortal covers to probing profiles to our annual Person of the Year, TIME has always shaped the first draft of history with the personalities and moments that mattered most. We get iconic. But 2011 has been a year of iconoclasm: powerful orthodoxies were challenged, notorious villains slain and dictators came crashing down. Along the way, people took photographs.
Our top 10 photos of 2011 capture a year as tumultuous and transformative as any in recent memory. The More >
Andreas Gurksy-Record Price for a Photograph
Nov 14th
Well seems there is a new highest price for a photograph, £2.7m for a rather dull picture of the Rhein taken by Andrea Gursky in 1999.
Rhein II
The image itself has been digitally edited to remove details which the photographer didn’t like. More details on the BBC website. (more…)
British Touring Car Championship-Snetterton Aug11
Sep 9th
Enjoyed a great day of motorsport at the Snetterton circuit on 7th August. This was on their new 500 course, the first time the British Touring Car Championship had raced on this configuration. Some great new viewing points around the banking on the circuit, although we were a bit unsure as to why they hadn’t opening up more of the banking as it was quite busy and good vantage points were at a real premium. About U Photography
Aug 30th
Been meaning to put a recommendation on here for some time for Adam Knott who runs About U Photography in Aylesford, Kent. We’ve been to Adam now for 5 photo sessions (maternity, newborn, 100 days, 6 months and 1 year) and each time we have got great photos. Adam is very happy to take his time and be patient, especially when Rosemary hasn’t really wanted to sit still and have her photo taken, and if it takes a little longer then that’s fine. No rushing and that will do like you get in commercial studios.
So if you are in Kent and More >
Modernism and Postmodernism-Does it mean anything?
Aug 23rd
Now I freely admit that my background is not in the arts and the meaning of phrases such as modernism and postmodernism are something that I don’t really understand, especially in terms of what it means photographically. Indeed, does it even mean anything from this point of view and was there a significant shift in the way people took photographs at some point?
However, as these terminologies were used a number of times during the Art Photography course I wanted to look into this further and see if they would help broaden my understanding of the subject.
So going back to these two phrases here More >
