Enjoyed a great day of motorsport at the Snetterton circuit on 7th August. This was on their new 500 course, the first time the British Touring Car Championship had raced on this configuration. Some great new viewing points around the banking on the circuit, although we were a bit unsure as to why they hadn’t opening up more of the banking as it was quite busy and good vantage points were at a real premium.

Historic Sports Car Championship-Brands Hatch Sept 2010

These pictures are I’m afraid quite old and have been sat on my Mac for some time waiting for me to go through them and sort out the good ones for adding to Flickr and here. Didn’t get as many good action shots as I would like, I suspect because the speeds where not particularly high and the drivers are looking after their cars a bit more. There were certainly more thrills and spills at the BTCC races and the support events. Clio Cup drivers are pretty insane and will go for spaces that just aren’t there. But then they’re not worrying about having to find a replacement panel for a 1970 Mini.

But good day of sport and my first trip to Brands Hatch in many years.

Snetterton Motorsport (August 2009)

A very exciting weekend of motorsport, including the British Touring Car Championship at the Snetterton racetrack in August 2009. We camped in the middle of the circuit so were able to see both the practice on the Saturday and the racing on the Sunday. There is a huge amount of motor sport packed into 2 days, with practice and qualifying usually taking place on the Saturday and the races themselves on the Sunday, although there is some actual racing to be seen on the Saturday for some of the more “minor” classes. Although the British Touring Cars are the main highlight of the weekend (with Jason Plato chasing a win and eventually managing to secure the championship) there is also Clio Cup, Formula Renault, Porsche Carerra Cup and Ginetta racing.
